Let me introduce you to my girl, Rachel.

The first time I met Rachel, she was a young, quiet, skinny teenager who blew me away with her sensational skills on the violin and impeccable 4.0 grade average.  Her hair was a vibrant, beautiful red that not even Revlon could imitate.  Rachel’s freckles mixed with tan skin were unusually fantastic.  But even more unique, the girl is from Tongan decent.  Crazy gene pool, I know,  but at least this describes the full poochy lips,  right?

The next next thing I knew, Rachel was struttin’ those long lengthy legs on the runways for one of the biggest talent agencies in Arizona.

Designers like Zadekian Posedel, Kevan Hall, Zhao Bandi or high end salons and boutiques like Rolf’s Beauty, 6 star Brazilian, and even Soleil Shoes are so in love with her unique look.  My girl even did a USA Today shoot for Jennyvi Dizon Couture.  Get it sister.

And lucky me, I know her, so I get to do shoots with her whenever I want.  Boo ya.  So last time we were together I wanted to test some different lighting and try out some techniques.  More than that, it’s fun for me to see her  in action as she works it for the camera.

But I want to dive deeper than this.   I want to use some of Rachel’s shots to show my future clients some examples of how slow, slight movements can make all the difference from one shot to another.  For instance:  in the shot sequence below, all Rachel did from one frame to the next was change the angle of her jaw line.  Chin up, to chin slightly lower and you’ve got a couple of different looks to choose from.   Use your chin, a slight movement of your hand, a turn of your shoulders, an adjustment of your hip, etc. and of course if I’m doing my job correctly then we’ll be a great team.

Now, take the next two frames for example.  When every girl thinks of “striking a pose” they will most likely throw the hand on the hip and the other hand on the head.  Not every girl can pull that off without it looking like an old school Barbizon shot or a horrible High School Senior photo shot.  Even though she’s pure hotness in both, I personally prefer the frame on the right where Rachel is more natural.

Is she not gorgeous?  She SCREAMS confidence in her photos and because she is truly kind off camera, it makes me love her even more.

I’ve got some sessions coming up that I seriously can NOT wait for.  Women in their 40’s, hot mama’s in their 30’s, and some beautiful brides that will rock my lens.  So remember my lovely divas, I don’t always need to pose you.  Sometimes YOU take the reins, BE YOURSELF and you’ll be amazed how strong your inner diva really is.
