[FRAMED] Our new project…all for you.

Vulnerability is a common step when I approach a challenge. And the vulnerability is overflowing out of my eardrums.

We met over a month ago in the heart of B Roll Production Company.  It was a fascinating collaboration of thoughts in a mid-morning meeting. Photographers, videographers, business minds, and editors met around a conference table set for eight. A morning meeting then became a late night office dinner. Each brain in the room had an idea and every artist clarified their vision. The overall feeling was intense and every mind became entrenched in the overwhelming level of potential and effort we saw ahead of us.

We had a goal of education, entertainment, and a vision of bringing information to fingertips on a weekly basis.

For who?

You. The aspiring and professional photographer who seeks inspiration. The business entrepreneur who needs a revelation. The introvert who hunts for connection. Even the model, hair stylist, wardrobist, makeup artist, editor, designer or artist who searches for collaboration.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I introduce to you, [FRAMED].

Every week, [FRAMED] will give you an in-depth, behind the scenes view of local, national, and internationally known photographers. [FRAMED] is about people, networking, learning, relating. But it’s not just the photograph, it’s about the team of people that it takes to create it. It’s not just about how to snap a photo, it’s about the business, branding and marketing of what it takes to become it.

As the crew and I travel to and from multiple cities and states while bunking up in the unfamiliar nature of countless hotel rooms, [FRAMED] will bring a free educational show to the comfort of your own computer. Am I nervous? Incredibly. Are we nuts? Absolutely. Are we excited? Uncontrollably.

First show airs February 1st, and I assure you my friends, you do not want to miss it.

Want to keep the show free? That’s entirely up to you.

Help us spread the word and don’t miss free products and giveaways.

Magic. The Shelter on New Years Day.

We washed our hands, put on our aprons, received our assignments from the head cook and anxiously waited for the doors to open. The crowd of men, women, and children entered. They seated themselves and quietly waited while the little pre-teenage boys served their food. The other volunteers filled plates for cold, hungry eaters and I, of course, grabbed my camera.

Two hundred plates were served. And for some, second helpings were a gratified option.  It was amazing, fulfilling, and touching.

I sat at the piano in the corner and started taking requests.  Billy Joel, The Entertainer, and the Superman theme were a hit, but my favorite request was from a certain southern gentleman.  His face was perfectly chiseled from time, and his laugh was completely contagious.   He thanked me for my music, and simply requested that I make 2011 magical.  I shook his hand, nodded my head and assured him that I would do my best.

But what I realized is that on the first day of 2011, that very moment, was already magical.

I was with friends and family who chose to forget about their own lives for a few hours.  I was with pre-teenage boys who were ecstatically serving.  And I was surrounded by humble people who reminded me that simplicity, prayer and gratitude are indispensable.

Here’s to you, Mr. Mississippi man.  2011 is off to a great and magical start.

Clair J Muir - Melissa, I admire you and Philip for doing this!!!! It shows all of us that we need to do things for other people. Thanks Melissa !!!! The pictures are Amazing !!!!!!

Melissa - Thank you Clair!!!!!!!!!

Sarah Robinson - What an AMAZING way to start off the year! You are an amazing woman, I did not know you played the piano? SO MANY TALENTS you have! Your family is amazing and I am sure you changed the year for those you touched already! Thanks for your inspiration in so many ways!

Ashley Madsen - What a sweet experience; especially to get young kids in the habit of helping others. The best part of service is that you always seem to get more out of doing it then those you are helping. Thanks for the great example you and your family are.

AMber Fowler - WOW! WOW! WOW! I love these photos and the story that accompanies it Melissa. Thank you for sharing this with all of us and Happy New Year to each of you.

robin chambon - Melissa, I have been completely mesmerized by you and your contagious photos and captioning. I have quietly been enjoying your work via facebook for 6 months now. As I looked over the rescue mission photos I was moved to comment after seeing the photo of everyone with their heads bowed. You are a talent of photography, but more than that you are a woman that reaches right into the human soul and makes me want to be a better woman! Thank you for sharing.
In admiration from Colorado,
Robin Chambon

Beverly Hartle - Thank you so much for inviting us to join in serving here with you this night! What a most rewarding experience to participate in volunteering for such a wonderful organization and serving those needing our help most in our community. I am so blessed and we brought many smiles that evening on the first day of 2011! What a great way to begin the year in serving others!

Beverly - You really captured all of our feelings for our evening of service. No activity could have been more rewarding than being at the Rescue Mission with these grateful people and hearing their amazing stories. How thankful I am for caring people who set up facilities like the mission to aid people at some point of dependency during their life and then provide a way for others like us to be involved. Thanks to you and Philip for making us aware that we need to do this type of service as often as we can!!

Angela - this was a perfect way to start the new year – serving others, being with family and friends, receiving gratitude, filling my heart with joy and hope for 2011. Love it!

Anna Marshall - You don’t know me but I follow your blog religiously. I admire you and would love to join on the next adventure like this. It looks like you guys had an amazing experience. (ps, I’m a friend of Angelas, not just some crazy stalker!)
